The Leo Carillo Ranch is a designated Historic National Landmark and community park in Carlsbad. A former working ranch, once owned by actor Leo Carrillo has been restored and preserved for the community to enjoy. The historic park sits in a landscaped 27-acre canyon that connects to the citywide trails system by the 4-mile long Rancho Carrillo trail. The restored buildings include a visitors center, adobe structures, hacienda, and farm buildings. The park is known for the wandering peacocks who are permanent residents of the ranch.
