Everyone tends to think of summer as the favorite season in Coastal California. Actually, Fall is a fantastic time to get out exploring all the area has to offer. From shopping and dining to outdoor entertainment and visiting one of the many artist communities nestled in neighborhood enclaves, cooler weather offers many advantages. Here are seven reasons people love autumn living in North County and San Diego.
1. Fall Harvest = Family Fun
You could drive out to Valley Center, but there's no need to get on the freeway to visit the local pumpkin patch. The Carlsbad Strawberry Field closes when after strawberry season and reopens in September so you can choose the perfect pumpkin for carving. It's a day trip that is sure to be a fun outing for kids and adults alike.
2. Summer May Be Over, But the Beaches Are Still Open!
October cools off a bit, with the average high temperature around 70 degrees, but there are usually a few days that top out around 80 degrees. Perfect weather for beach combing, walking the family dog, watching stunning sunsets and hosting a bonfire.
3. Live Like a Local
The out-of-town tourist crowd thins out, and booking a reservation at favorite restaurants and bars gets a lot easier. Patio on 101 and Coyote Bar and Grill – are just two of the dozens of North County food and beverage establishments offering delicious food, friendly servers and on-site entertainment. Many are also pet friendly, so you can take Fido or Fifi along to enjoy the live music.
4. The Craft Beer Will Be Flowing
The 24th Annual San Diego Beer Festival returns on September 22, 2018. From Noon to 5 PM, more than 50 breweries converge on the Broadway Pier, pouring 120 unique craft beer varieties to raise money for cancer research. Sample new taste, enjoy the live music and support a great cause.
5. Legoland is Only 30 Minutes North of San Diego
Speaking of tourists, fall is a great time to visit Legoland California. The park is just a short drive from San Diego, and with more manageable traffic and fewer guests you can enjoy the SeaLife Aquarium without feeling cramped or rushed. Plus, their newest onsite hotel opened recently so it should be easier to book rooms.
6. Encinitas Holiday Festival Welcomes the Holiday Season
Get your Christmas shopping finished at the Encinitas Holiday Festival on November 18, 2018. Take a drive along the beach on Highway 101 and stop off for live music, 35+ food booths, 450 exhibitors, arts and crafts, carnival rides for the kids, and more.
